Downsize your home, upsize the festivities
Date Posted: December 8, 2020

Tis the season to be jolly! The festive season is a time when many families and travel bugs hit the road for a summer holiday by the beach or in the bush.
Scenic walks, a dip in the pool, barbecue dinners and telling funny stories around the campfire are all activities you can expect to enjoy on your summer holiday.
For times when holidaying or travelling isn’t possible, you’ll be excited to know that your festive season can be just as fun when you downsize to a land lease community. Here’s a rundown of how Christmas time could look for you:
Morning:
- Wake up and sip your favourite cuppa as you relax on your front porch.
- Take a short walk to the community hub and enjoy a refreshing dip in the indoor pool. Finish up with 10 minutes in the sauna to relax a little more!
- Take a scenic walk along the beach or along a local trail (depending on the location of your community) with the community walking group.
Afternoon:
- Enjoy a community Christmas barbecue with your neighbours and friends, or invite your family over for a more intimate barbecue at home.
- Head to the community cinema room to watch a Christmas classic to get you feeling festive.
Evening:
- It’s Happy Hour, which means it’s time to head to the homeowners’ Clubhouse for a night cap!
- As you socialise with your neighbours, it’s the perfect time to carry out your Kris Kringle gift exchange and crack some Christmas bon bons!
- When your eyelids start to get heavy, you can walk home feeling safe and secure in your gated community.
Enjoy activities at your own pace
The beauty of living in a downsizing community is that there’s a whole range of fun-tastic activities available all year round and you get to choose how much or how little you’d like to take part in.
Enjoy good company at Christmas
Christmas is the time to be around good company. So, if you’re unable to be with family and friends, there’ll always be neighbours and community members to share in the festivities with you.
